How to get a credit card?

If that's your question then you have come to right place. I will try to explain in detail on how you can go about getting a credit card and what you need to have and know before you apply for a credit card.

The first thing you will need to have before you can get a credit card is a job! The banks and other other credit card providers will not give you one if you cannot proove that you have some sort of income to be able to pay back the money that you spent on the card. So if you have a job then next thing you will need to know is that you need to earn enough each week or month so that you will earn at least around $20,000 for the whole year, as this is the minimum given by most credit card banks. Also if you are in your first job then you will need to have worked at least 3 to 6 months already, it depends on the credit card providers conditions.

So once you have passed all the income (job) conditions above there are a few other minor things that you must quality for also. You must be at least 18 years of age and a permanent Australian resident. You must not be in a large debt with any other loan providers and you must provide details if you have any other loans, the applications will ask for this.

Basically all the credit card provider wants to know is that you earn enough to pay for what you spend so if you passed all the conditions stated above then you can proceed to apply for a credit card online and you will be sent one in the mail, once it arrives you may need to provide some documents as proof of identification, such as birth certificate, passport, utility bills, this can be done at your local post office, you will be given all the instructions in a letter.

The biggest reason why anyone would want a credit card is to pay for items they can cannot afford to pay in full right now, rather they will pay it off slowly over time with interest. However some people tend to use the credit card to pay for products that they cannot afford to pay for now or even in the future, this is a huge mistake and something that should not be taken lightly. Some people think they will be able to pay it off slowly however each month goes by and no payments are made, so the interest keeps going up, so you can get yourself in real debt if you do not know how to budget well. So before you purchase items on your visa or mastercard make sure you work out how much you plan to pay for it each month and is that it is realistic for your spending lifestyle.
